Today's conflict that occurred at Falele and Kadobe communities in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina state involving a vigilante group and Fulani cattle herders stemmed from a mistaken identity.

The conflict has expounded the efficacy of community driven peace model in Katsina State.

Today Tuesday 17th March, 2025 Kadobe and Falele village areas witnessed  an intense conflict between a local vigilante groups and Fulani herders.

The conflict wasn't a banditry attack as widely speculated.

What really happened?

The incident began when a misunderstanding led the vigilante group to mistaken the Fulani herders from for bandits from Niger Republic. Three of the headers were instantly  killed by the vigilantes  in Kadobe and Falale villages.

However, within three hours, the situation has been swiftly controlled through  established local  consultation, monitoring, and evaluation  committee  with the help of security agencies.

Intervention by community leaders played a greater role in resolving today's crisis. This expounds the efficacy of the Comminity Driven Peace Model.

In previous time, conflict resolution became very difficult, with Kinetic approach as the only tool to control community crisis.

Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda. PhD, CON of Katsina State, expressed deep sympathy for the victims, extending heartfelt prayers for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives. The governor assured the public that the government is committed to ensuring that all citizens can live in peaceful and secured environments within the state.

Reflecting on the incidence, Governor Radda commended the efforts of the security forces and the  community  leader for their effective and prompt action in restoring calm and order.

In addition to addressing the immediate consequences of the incident, the government has already taken steps aimed at preventing future occurrences. The government will improve on its strategies to address the underlying issues contributing to such misunderstandings.

Kadobe and Falele communities are situated in an area that, before initiating Katsina State Community Driven Peace Model, the area  experienced long periods of banditry attacks.

The introduction of the Katsina State Community Driven Peace Model changed the narratives of security stuation in the state, with very few cases of attacks by bandits from neighboring states.

Katsina State Community Driven Peace Model is an initiation by local communities to enter on to peace deals with bandits terrorising their communities.

The model was first tested at Jibia Local Government with satisfactory results.

Since launching the peace model at Jibia Local Government in February last year and other Local Governments Areas, communities engulfed by conflicts experienced relative peace as normalcy has been restored.
